Third International Conference on Shaken Baby Syndrome/Abusive Head Trauma
The Third International Conference on Shaken Baby Syndrome was held in Salt Lake City, September 25, 2000. The conference was attended by 672 people. Participants included family members of victims, as well as attorneys, police officers, doctors, nurses, medical examiners, social workers and other professionals.
The first legal institute was conducted during this conference. This full day analysis of a hypothetical shaken baby syndrome case featured expert prosecutors and medical experts from the United States. It included a demonstration of a new CD-ROM, created by the NCSBS, illustrating what happens to the brain when a child is shaken.
