SBS: A Visual Overview Version 3.0
This new CD-ROM features over 100 educational slides with 24 unique animated slides including excellent visual and oral descriptions of SBS/AHT (shaken baby syndrome/abusive head trauma). This state-of-the-art CD-ROM takes you through the causes, symptoms, injuries and outcomes of SBS/AHT. The disc comes with and without narrated PowerPoint presentations and features full-color computer animations showing the movement of the brain, eyes, bones and neck when a child is shaken.
Created and authored by James R. Lauridson, M.D., Alex V. Levin, M.D., MHSc, FRCSC, Robert M. Reece, MD and the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome (NCSBS), this CD-ROM provides a visual representation of the current state of science about SBS/AHT. SBS: A Visual Overview is an excellent training tool for professionals who work with victims of abusive head trauma. The CD-ROM depicts how head injuries occur using animated images and text. This tool is valuable for explaining the complex biomechanics of abusive head injuries to investigators, mandated reporters, and jurors in an easy to use format.
This is an excellent tool for medical personnel, law enforcement, investigators, lawyers and public or civic groups.
In 2008, the non-narrated PowerPoint presentation was translated into Japanese. We would like to thank the Japanese Embassy for translation of this and other NCSBS education materials, and their efforts in the prevention of SBS/AHT.
This CD-ROM may be downloaded to customize a case-specific version for use in courtrooms.
