Detective Chief Inspector Philip Wheeler has been a London police officer for over 25 years.

After investigating several cases of Shaken Baby Syndrome murders in the late 1990's he wrote the Home Office Guide to these investigations. In addition to his everyday policing roles he has also been the national advisor on shaken baby cases for the National Police College based in Hampshire. Under that auspices he has given advice to approximately 100 cases of murder and serious assault on babies throughout the United Kingdom in the last few years.

DCI Wheeler has written articles on child abuse for the Child Abuse Review, Criminal Law Review and Police Review in the UK. He has also recently authored a chapter on shaken baby syndrome murders for a British book. He has also produced a guide to investigations on CD ROM which was circulated throughout the world to police officers. He co-organised the European Conference on Shaken Baby Syndrome held in Edinburgh in 2003.

DCI Wheeler works with Eastern European law enforcement departments on various projects and is currently attached to a North London Police Station.
