The Period of PURPLE Crying® Prevention Program Research and Implementation

SBS is preventable, the Period of PURPLE Crying® is a new program that illustrates simple ways to help parents, families and caregivers understand the six most common and frustrating characteristics of crying. Dealing with a crying baby can be very hard, and parents often don't realize just how frustrating it is until they are in a stressful situation. Marilyn speaks on this new program and ways to help a crying child. The NCSBS believes that the Period of PURPLE Crying® program serves as a breakthrough for parents and caregivers to understand why their baby cries and how to cope with crying. Topics of the presentation include the following:

  • An overview of SBS, the dynamics and prevention possibilities
  • The PURPLE Crying program research model
  • The process and parent focus groups
  • The use of the program to prevent SBS/AHT
  • Availability and implementation of the program
