Doris Duke Charitable Foundation
In 2004, awarded a $1.2 million grant to conduct research on the SBS prevention program, the Period of PURPLE Crying®, to the NCSBS and their partners; Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center, University of Washington Center for Community Child Health Research, University of British Columbia, and University of California, Berkeley School of Public Health.
In 2007, awarded a $2 million grant to fund a 5-year research project in North Carolina to test the effects of the Period of PURPLE Crying program.
In 2010, awarded a grant to the NCSBS to develop a long term strategic plan for the Period of PURPLE Crying, development of a new calming, coping and soothing video to include on the PURPLE program DVD and upgrade of the PURPLE online training modules
The George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation
In 2004, awarded a $300,000 grant to the NCSBS and its partners to conduct research on the SBS prevention program the Period of PURPLE Crying.
In 2007 & 2008, awarded a grant to fund the implementation of the Period of PURPLE Crying into all Utah birthing hospitals.
In 2009, provided funding to support a second dose of the Period of PURPLE Crying in public health departments, doctors offices, adoption agencies and other community health organizations.
In 2010, awarded a grant to assist with the purchase of upgraded computer equipment and technology

In 2007, awarded a $246,000 contract to the NCSBS to fund the development of a military-specific SBS prevention kit.
